W!LDBRAIN is a Los Angeles and New York-based animation studio. It was created in 1991 under the name BIG Pictures as a subsidiary of the in 1976 founded (Colossal) Pictures. BIG Pictures took on the name W!LDBRAIN in 1994. In 1999, (Colossal) Pictures shut down, leaving W!LDBRAIN to go on independently until it was purchased by DHX Media in September 2010.
The company has created itself an admirable portfolio throughout the years. From about 1995 to 2005, it offered web-based flash animation series on its site and was one of the first companies to do so. Among the series W!LDBRAIN contributed to are Freakazoid!, I Am Weasel and Yo Gabba Gabba!. Other products W!LDBRAIN are (short) films and commercials.
Since early 2010, W!LDBRAIN has been the company creating Mattel's Monster High cartoon series, though by 2011, part of the work was delegated to Top Drawn Animation. Originally, the company took care of both the webisodes and the TV specials, but since 2012 Nerd Corps Entertainment has been contracted for the TV specials' animation. W!LDBRAIN also provides the art for the games on the official website. The company's choice of visual style is loosely based on the profile art of the toys, rather than the toys themselves.
In Fiscal 2011, W!LDBRAIN earned $2.23 million for their work on Monster High.
