The amusement gained from this is just what Slo Mo and Ghoulia needed to break the ice. [Source]

Ghoulia, who had specifically come to the gym to see her friends Slo Mo and Don play, takes offense at how they make their points through insults. She challenges the not-zombies to a match against a full zombie team to prove the latter's worth. Manny takes her up on her challenge and goes even further, declaring that the outcome of the match will decide who, between him and Ghoulia, will be the dodgeskull captain for the rest of their high school years. Ghoulia accepts without hesitation.

Ghoulia's team is allowed the first throw when the match commences, and Ghoulia takes it, sending the ball bouncing on the floor away from Manny's team. Her opponents laugh at first, but then Frankie turns up the ventilation system to maximum, and Lagoona removes the seal of a pipe. The ball is sucked into the system, hauled upwards, and then shot down onto Manny's team with great force. As per Ghoulia's calculations, every opposing team member gets knocked down by the ball, ensuring the zombies their victory and permanent captainship over dodgeskull at Monster High. [Source]

Clawdeen and Frankie get a text from Cleo, which says that there's a big emergency. When the duo opens the door to enter the school building, a mob of fleeing students runs outside. Ghoulia gives Slo Mo a call to mobilize the zombies and corner Toralei, which they easily accomplish. Upon accusation of theft, Toralei claims she had only taken the scooter to wash it for Ghoulia. Ghoulia takes her up on that explanation and under careful watch by the zombies, Toralei is forced to clean the scooter. Cleo even hands Toralei the werecat's own toothbrush to get to the hard-to-reach spots. [Source]

Rochelle sits out in the halls with a clipboard. Heath, Manny, and Slo Mo walk out of the headmistress's office boasting about how well they think they did on interviewing for the positions of Hall Monitor. Excitedly, Heath speculates that they will be great officers. Rochelle overhears them and interrupts, disagreeing with them. She explains that the job is to keep the halls clear of any trouble and cannot abuse power. The trio shrugs her off, leaving to practice their "cop walk". Slo Mo treads along at a slow pace, but Heath and Manny pull him out of the scene. Rochelle shakes her head in disapproval, commenting how they do not care for the school genuinely. Bloodgood calls on the next applicant.

The headmistress congratulates Rochelle on passing her test and she promotes her to the head of her new safety team, which consists of Heath, Manny, and Slo Mo. Heath announces, "Deputy Burns, reporting for duty!". His hair ignites when he tries to salute, thus causing his sleeve to catch fire. Manny then grabs a book and tries to put out the fire. Rochelle, shocked, questions how she'll protect the school from the safety team. [Source]

Cleo is stoked about the arrival of the Fall collection of Sasquatchy & Cadaver in the Maul tomorrow and has invited Clawdeen, Draculaura, and Frankie to plan a strategy to be the first in line at the sale. Cleo enthusiastically explains the plan at the Coffin Bean, which distracts all four of them from time passing and the Maul closing. When finally Cleo is done with her explanation, the group realizes they are locked in. They consider calling Ghoulia and asking her to hack the system so they can go home, but Cleo suggests they spend the night instead to ensure they are first in line. Partial motivation is the crowd of zombies standing in front of the Maul who also wish to get in on the sale.

Following minor provocation from Cleo, Slo Mo calls Ghoulia to open the doors for him and his friends. As Cleo's group is gone to get popcorn, the zombies swarm in and form a line well before the girls return. Cleo does not take defeat well, though, and grabs the store sign as the line starts where the sign is. She runs off with it, joined by her friends and followed by several zombies until she's back at the Sasquatchy & Cadaver store when the Maul opens.

Slo Mo, who didn't follow the sign, is dedicated to guarding the store's doors, demanding he be the first customer as he wants a gift for Ghoulia. Cleo is neither moved nor willing to accept to be second in line. She takes out one of her family's artifacts and explains that she will teleport Slo Mo away with it, but accidentally uses it on herself. She reappears at the back of the line, screaming as she realizes she's last. [Source]

Ghoulia solves a difficult equation, earning her much admiration from the Mr. Rotter and the class. Slo Mo admires her too, but sorrowfully, as he thinks that he is not smart enough to fit Ghoulia's preferences for a love interest. When he later finds her the center of attention as she earns a million points on the Dead Fast video game, Lagoona notices his distress and insists he's not too unintelligent for Ghoulia. Slo Mo refuses to believe her and inquires about the magical artifacts Cleo has access to. Lagoona thinks Cleo will have something to help Slo Mo, but discourages the plan. Slo Mo pulls a puppyface though, which convinces her to help him ask Cleo for aid.

Cleo does not have Lagoona's reservations and quickly hauls up an intelligence potion and its antidote from the artifact collection. Slo Mo eagerly drinks it and not only is the change in his intelligence immediate, but also the change in his personality. This worries both Lagoona and Cleo, but they let him be.

The next day, Ghoulia and Frankie witness Slo Mo playing an simultaneous exhibition chess match and winning each of games. Shortly after, he, Ghoulia, and Don are part of a debate competition and, ignoring Ghoulia's wish to do the next rebuttal, Slo Mo launches a long-winded insult at the opposing team's debate qualities. While most in the auditorium are impressed, Ghoulia is angry that Slo Mo did something arrogant and mean like that. Her anger only grows mere hours later, when Slo Mo checks the details of the equation she solved and publicly criticizes and improves it.

Aware he messed up, Slo Mo goes to Lagoona for help to talk with Ghoulia about his actions. Lagoona answers that Ghoulia doesn't want to see him because he's become a jerk. Slo Mo defends himself by saying he now is what Ghoulia wanted, but Lagoona corrects that he now is who he thought Ghoulia wanted. She hands him the intelligence potion's antidote then, leaving the choice to Slo Mo. Slo Mo chooses his old self, making both him and Ghoulia happy in the end. [Source]

Witnessing another instance of zombies being treated as lesser people, Frankie decides to run for Student Disembodied President to obtain the power to help them. Her friends are supportive of her, with Cleo assigning herself as Frankie's campaign manager. For the most part, Frankie enjoys her friends' aid, but she also finds that most of them expect her to use her future influence to spend energy on trivial matters for them. On top of that, Toralei decides to run too—solely so Frankie will lose.

To boost her place in the polls, Frankie and her team make a campaign video. Frankie uses the opportunity to point out that many people have problems and want her to do something about them, but that there are objectively much more significant issues and that it's those issues she wants to work on. The team is happy with the resulting video and leaves their equipment alone for a bit. Toralei uses this time to rework her opponent's video to make Frankie look like a horrible candidate.

Angered but not defeated, Frankie engages Toralei in a debate. Toralei tries to win votes by making outrageous promises, and Frankie knows she can't beat that. As such, she shifts the attention from her person onto one of the students she wants to help: Sloman Mortavitch. She lets him talk about his experiences as a zombie at Monster High, which move the entire student body. Frankie goes the extra mile by retreating from the election and announcing Slo Mo as the new candidate, since he is a better voice for the zombies than she ever could be. Slo Mo gets twice the votes Toralei gets, and thus becomes the new Student Disembodied President. [Source]
