Aliens in Monster High

Profile art - Astranova

Astranova, an Alien

Aliens, also known as Extraterrestrial life is life that occurs outside of Earth and that probably did not originate from Earth. Astranova is the daughter of the comet aliens. She is also the only named alien in the franchise. Martians first land on Earth in the 1996 sci-fi comedy Mars Attacks!, for a moment it appears all will be fine. “We come in peace,” says their leader, as the music swells and a dove soars overhead. Seconds later the Martian pulls out a laser gun and opens fire on a crowd of human onlookers. Yet another blockbuster alien invasion has begun. For many years there have been topics on the idea of aliens existing or not. There have even been books on the topic, such as "Aliens and UFOs: Myth or Reality".

Monster High []

Not much is known about aliens in Monster High as Astranova and Pennywise are the only named aliens in Monster High. But it's known that Astranova is a comet alien implying there may be many different kinds of aliens. Pennywise, also known as It, is a shapeshifting creature from outer space. It's implied that Astranova's parents are also aliens and that they have been to Earth and have a relationship with the ancient Egyptians, which would fit the myth that aliens built the pyramids. Fulfilling the prophecy of the Comet, that stated that every 1300 years a comet will come to Earth, allowing for whoever witnesses to make a promise that shall last forever.

The webisode "Invasion of the Ghoul Snatchers", is a play on the 1956 science fiction film Invasion of the Body Snatchers, itself an adaptation from the 1954 novel The Body Snatchers. The aliens in this webisode are unnamed but they have a very stereotypical appearance of an alien. Being short in stature, having green skin, and red glowing eyes. They also have wide out stretched point ears. One is even seen later leaving in a flying saucer.

Description[]

In Monster High it's implied that there are multiple different kinds of aliens. Astranova is a comet alien, she has four needlelike fingers, a slightly larger head than normal, dark blue skin with faceted crystal texture, dark blue starry eyes and blackish blue-purplish hair with silver highlights evoking stars. She has markings of stars on her face and a mostly humanoid figure.

Pennywise is based on the shapeshifting alien creature from the novel “It”. As Pennywise, she takes the form of a humanoid clown with white skin, red hair, facial markings, and yellow eyes.

In the webisode "Invasion of the Ghoul Snatchers" the aliens look more similar to a stereotypical alien as seen in media.

Abilities[]

  • Floating: Aliens are able to move from place to place by floating.
  • Telekinesis: Aliens can move objects using their mind or hand gestures. Pennywise is also able to read minds.
  • Gravity Control: Aliens can control gravity and take it away making others float as if they were weightless.
  • Shapeshifting: It is able to shapeshift, commonly using the form “Pennywise the Dancing Clown”.
  • Deadlights: Pennywise is able to project three glowing golden orbs called deadlights, used to attract victims.
  • Immortality: Pennywise cannot be killed permanently, resurrecting every 27 years.

Notes[]

  • Pennywise is apart of the “Skullector” line, meaning that Pennywise is not apart of the Monster High canon.
